Beryly Lubala has scored five goals in six games since joining Crawley from Birmingham in the summer

League Two Crawley knocked a weakened Norwich out of the Carabao Cup to reach the third round for only the second time in their history.

Former Birmingham midfielder Beryly Lubala scored the only goal - his fifth of the season - with a deflected effort that wrong-footed visiting goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann.

That was enough to oust a Norwich team showing 11 changes from their Premier League defeat by Chelsea on Saturday.

The Canaries did hit the crossbar through Emiliano Buendia but largely struggled to break down the hosts, who sit 63 places below them in the English football pyramid.

On a forgettable night for the visitors, head coach Daniel Farke was shown a late yellow card and defender Timm Klose was forced off after a clash of knees with Crawley forward Panutche Camara.

The draw for the third round takes place on Wednesday, after the remaining second-round ties have been played.

Crawley manager Gabriele Cioffi: "It's a great moment, a great emotion, and I'm very proud and happy that we have written this in the history of Crawley.

"I really enjoyed seeing the stadium rocking in this way. We are humble people and after tonight we will prepare for Cheltenham."

Norwich boss Daniel Farke: "It was unlucky because we were the better side. We gave five debuts and made 11 changes and this type of game can happen when you do things like this.

"We missed some unbelievable chances, we hit the crossbar two times and had a few penalty incidents that weren't given."

    Doesn't matter what team the opposition put out, well done to Crawley. The money for getting to the 3rd round will be very handy - a lucrative draw will make it even better.

    Norwich fans should be relieved, they need to concentrate on staying up and Leeds need to concentrate on promotion . Cup competitions are fine if you have a B team or youth you wanna blood unless your a mid table team or need the cash or backup path to Europe

    Was at the match tonight. Crawley played with heart and soul. Norwich were arrogant, complacent and smug. They made a complete change to their usual lineup (which I thought was disrespectful to the many Norwich fans that made the journey - they were excelkent btw) but left no heavy hitters on the bench they could call upon. A bloody nose waiting to happen and so it came to pass. Well done Crawley.

    I personally think that every cup competition should be taken seriously, so Norwich deserved defeat. I'll probably get some smart smart alec responses from these nouveau BBC United and Liverpool fans, but Crawley really deserve the headlines. Many congratulation to them.

    I just love seeing the small Clubs' dump out the bigger ones. Well done Crawley. Great job. Oh, and don't let the losers pin their loss on fielding a weakened team. The fixture reads Crawley Town v Norwich City, not their reserves..

    It's just an observation but Norwich are clearly a team who already know they're in trouble this season. Either that or this is just a continuation of foreign managers not showing English competitions the respect they deserve? Is the first team unable to play more than one game a week? They've just come from the Championship so should be used to the rigours of football. Poor. My best to Crawley.

    I reckon PL security is better achieved by winning matches. Winning breeds confidence & confidence helps win matches. Norwich have now lost two on the trot, the latest being humiliating. Norwich players who need 'resting' this early in the season are hardly going to provide PL security.

    Football, in any competition, is about winning and pride. Although I think this is just another example of a foreign manager showing a complete lack of respect to the competition and Crawley. Norwich should be ashamed; Crawley, I hope, can go even further!

    We don't get much to cheer about at Crawley and this was a terrific performance from our team.

    We more than doubled our average attendance and all the Crawley fans left feeling incredibly positive.

    Our squad looks better than it has for a long time and if some of the additional supporters keep returning, attendances will increase and we just might have a very decent season. Let's hope so!!!

    Stunned? Haha, Norwich got the result they wanted, a newly promoted team doesn't wanna waste time and risk injuries playing that Mickey Mouse cup, I bet they sent out a B team yes? Nothing against Crawley, but I bet they could beat most of the Prem teams that get sent out in this awkward embarrassment of a cup. Nobody wants to be in it, especially teams fighting to stay in the PL.
